Having a meeting with an artist is always a special experience: we are used to appreciating the works of art, but a meeting with an artist makes us able to read his creations in a different way, with more affection and depth. This October we visited a beautiful exhibition at the Casa dei Gentili di Sanzeno (Trento) . The exhibit showed the whole artistic activity of ALBINO ROSSI, an Italian artist who works mainly in the Trentino region. The title of the exhibition “the soul of Nature” suggest us that the main subject of Rossi’s work is the Nature, with particular focus on the mountain environment. The curator of the exhibition was Patrizia Buonanno, and she also met us at the museum. The artist Albino Rossi told us how he planned and created his works, and explained us his ideas and the artistic techniques.
With the students of 7th grade we split in four groups, and every group took on a different subject: the mountain farmhouses, the still lifes, the mountains and the symbolic woods. In front of the Rossi’s paintings the students worked, copying them, or being inspired by them. This was a way to really understand the works, through the visual examination, the observation and the drawing. Here below we are the drawings : I think we really understood these works of art, and the experience was, for sure, unforgettable.
