The still lifes by Giorgio Morandi

| | , ,

With pupils of year 8 we studied a great Italian painter of the 1900s, Giorgio Morandi, with his still lifes full of quiet solitude, and with its delicate colors.

Starting with a dark background we copied the colors of Morandi with tempera, trying a new way to spread the color, overlapping strokes thick, stirring tones, revealing the dark background and leaving undefined boundaries.

  1. I just saw your student’s work. As a lover of Morandi’s work and an art professor I think your students did a WONDERFUL job of translating his work. Bravo!
