Our Lesson on Art Nouveau was comprehensive of a research on the meaning of design: change the shape of an object while maintaining its function.
After we spoke about of born and developing of design in the 19th Century into the Art Nouveau Style and we designed a chair. Every student of grade 9 (13 year-old) has designed his own chair in his personal style with unique and original features, using a worksheet with a simple chair. Every student has expressed his personality in it! You can buy the worksheet with a faint silhouette of a stylized chair here below:
Great Idea! You have some very creative students! It would be fun to turn this into a miniture sculpture project.
Yes! I’m thinking about a pop-up cardboard chair! Thanks for your comment! 🙂
Bravissimi! Hanno un futuro da designer 😉
Grazie Elisa, devo ammettere che si sono divertiti e mi hanno meravigliato per l’originalità delle idee! 🙂
Hello Miriam,
These look beautiful! I wonder if this is a lesson you could make into a 3 dimensional lesson. Maybe the students could make a template of the chair and make it out of card board or even clay? Just a thought.
Thanks,
Carole Bronzino
Thanks for your comment Carole! What an idea! 3D chairs, perhaps a pop-up cardboard chair! You gave me a good suggestion ! 😉
