Monochrome photos: a color hunt!

| | ,

The word MONOCHROME describes paintings, drawings, design, or photographs in one color or values of one color. A monochromatic object or image reflects colors in shades of limited colors or hues. For an image, the term monochrome is usually taken to mean the same as black and white or, more likely, grayscale, but may also be used to refer to other combinations containing only tones of a single color, such as green-and-white or green-and-black (you can have a look at the Picasso’s Blue Period to see how the artist used the values of blue in his monochromatic paintings)

I assigned my 7th grade students the task of taking a MONOCHROME PICTURE. They have to gather ten or so objects with the same hue, on a background with the same color. They had to take a picture of this monochrome still life, and give a TITLE to the picture. They sent me the picture with the title to our online class in EDMODO  or using the mail or WhatsApp.

The pictures together are really effective, and can be assembled in different combination as rainbows, gradations, cool or warm colors, complementary colors, gray scale or black & white.
